CREATE DESIGN ™ supported the UCT club by developing all their materials on a pro bono basis as we liked the community-based work that the club was doing in areas like Mannenberg, Cape Town. The club was involved in community upliftment projects where they presented weekly workshops in underprivileged communities. The idea was to open opportunities and perspectives - to give kids a community-based sport that would get them off the streets and start them on a positive lifestyle of athletic achievement and aspiration.

Capoeira is a Brazilian form of martial art with strong roots in Angola. The UCT Capoeira Club has its own unique identity, one that draws from the beliefs, values and objectives set by the masters of Capoeira.

CREATE DESIGN ™ developed an identity and brand for the club that communicates individuality, freedom, friendship and personal self-worth. It has an aspirational identity that breaks all racial boundaries. The club does extensive community-based work on the Cape Flats. It strives to share the passion for Capoeira and has used its identity on all its club materials, from T-shirts & posters through to CD ROMs and websites.

 

Client Feedback

A sports club of the University of Cape Town Capoeira UCT found itself with few members and little awareness on campus in 2003. It was decided that the club needed an image and some marketing to raise awareness. Without CREATE DESIGN ™ the success experienced by the club since 2004 would not have been possible.

A very professional website was created, a brand and logo gave the club an identity and multi media promotional CD was used as the clubs promotional piece at parties and events. By the end of 2004 club membership had shot up and the club was nominated for club of the year for the first time. The effective new found identity of 2004 has since been adopted and continues to represent the club today successfully.
