Maire Fisher, remarkable writer and editor is the brain child behind Live Writing. In support of all writers, Maire conceptualized an online community for writers and editors where they are able to find support, inspiration and feedback from their piers, as well as showcase their talent and find work. CREATE DESIGN ™ was approached by Maire to create a concept for the brand and the design of her online community based site. The site would involve creating a CMS driven component to allow her and her members to upload work and run online writing courses as well as keeping the site updated.

The Live Writing brand is a whimsical dandelion. Not only does the iconic image conjure up nostalgic memories of childhood and fantasy, it could also be symbolic of making a wish, or day dreaming and being creative. It has connotations of growth. The dandelion as we know it is a delicate head of seeds that are thrown to the wind, that become grounded, and eventually grow. This metaphor - of a thought as though it where a seed taking flight and materializing into a tangible piece of writing - is what we envisaged for the Live Writing brand.

CREATE DESIGN ™ illustrated the brand and carried through the new corporate identity for Live Writing across all printed materials such as book marks and stationery. We also conceptualized the design and backend structures for the Live Writing data base driven site www.livewriting.co.za. On this site members of Live Writing have the ability to upload and administer online writing courses. The site administrator can also fully update any section of the site, and appoint different user names and passwords for users wanting to participate in online writing courses.
